Short answer: Choose an AI video workflow shot by shot, not as one decision for the whole campaign. Separate generation, editing, reframing and extension, write a shot specification that names what cannot change, review the usable sequence at normal speed and frame by frame, and verify the actual access route before committing a delivery. Judge cost by accepted seconds, not generated seconds. There is no defensible universal winner without a defined brief and a consistent test.

This guide is for brand and marketing teams, and the producers who work with them, commissioning AI video for a campaign. The platform and route facts were checked against provider documentation on 27 October 2026; the production method is editorial guidance.

How should you choose an AI video workflow for a campaign?

Choose an AI video workflow shot by shot. A product turn, a character performance and an atmospheric opening each place different demands on generation. Some shots need a precise starting image. Others need an existing performance to be edited. A campaign becomes manageable when those requirements are decided before the first batch of clips is made.

The right shortlist depends on what must remain exact, what movement is required and how the work will be finished. A model demonstration shows what is possible. Your own production test shows whether the required shot is usable.

What is the difference between generation and editing?

Generation creates a shot from instructions and supported references. Editing changes an existing clip. Reframing adapts the visual field to another shape. Extension continues material beyond its original duration. These are different jobs, even when one application offers all of them.

For example, Runway documents Gen-4.5 for text- and image-led generation, while its separate Aleph model addresses video editing. Luma documents generation, editing and reframing under Ray. Adobe offers its own Firefly video model alongside partner engines. Keep each capability attached to the model and platform that actually provides it. Each page was checked on 27 October 2026.

How do you turn the script into a shot specification?

For every shot, record its purpose, duration in the edit, subject, action, camera intention and final placement. Identify any element that cannot change: a product shape, logo, location detail, costume or approved character feature. Then decide which input is the source of truth for that element. For keeping a product or character stable from shot to shot, see keeping characters and products consistent across AI images and video.

A reference-led test is often more informative than a long abstract prompt. An approved starting frame can settle product placement, lighting and composition before motion is introduced. It does not remove the need to inspect the video; movement can reveal errors that were invisible in the still.

How do you evaluate the usable sequence?

Review the complete clip at normal speed, then examine difficult moments frame by frame. Watch hands touching objects, feet meeting the ground, reflections, thin edges and anything crossing in front of the subject. Look at the first and last usable frames as well as the most attractive moment in the middle.

Test the cut, not just the shot. Place candidates beside one another with temporary sound. Ask whether the subject, colour and direction of movement remain coherent. A beautiful clip may be the wrong choice if it cannot connect to the next scene or leaves no space for the campaign message.

Record the number of attempts and finishing required. Measure accepted seconds, not generated seconds, when evaluating production cost. This avoids making a low unit price look economical when most takes are rejected.

Which route and lifecycle should you verify?

The same model family can appear through several platforms with different controls and access conditions. Check the actual route before writing a tutorial or committing a delivery. Google's current notice distinguishes discontinued Veo preview endpoints in the Gemini API from other documented routes, such as the Veo enterprise route; Gemini Omni Flash is separately documented. All three Google pages were checked on 27 October 2026. A version number without an access route is incomplete production information.

Keep a fallback plan that protects the concept. Approved scripts, reference frames, audio and edit decisions should be portable. If a model becomes unavailable, a production team should be able to change the generation stage without discarding the campaign's creative foundation.

What should you plan early for sound and versions?

Generated audio can be useful, but dialogue, pronunciation and the final mix still need approval. For Arabic, English and Persian versions, decide whether the image remains the same and the audio changes, or whether timing and on-screen text require a new edit.

Confirm the delivery list: landscape and portrait masters, captions, clean versions, audio stems where included, and any editable project files. Review each version in its actual frame. A landscape shot with the main product near the edge may not survive a portrait crop. For the finishing steps that follow selection, see directing AI video so it does not look generated.

What was checked, and what is editorial advice?

The provider pages linked above were checked on 27 October 2026, together with the BytePlus video documentation. No independent model ranking is claimed.

Frequently asked questions

Which engine should a business choose first?

Shortlist the engines that support the required inputs and edit controls, then run one representative shot. There is no defensible universal winner without a defined brief and a consistent test.

Can every model preserve a product accurately?

No capability label removes the need for inspection. Compare the product against approved references throughout the clip, including labels, proportions and reflections.

What should an AI video proposal include?

It should describe the concept, shot count, language versions, revision rounds, finishing and masters. Explore 4AI's AI video production service or send a campaign brief.
